The Doom Monitor Mod
(or "how to play 3d games at 1
frame per week without a video card)
Ooh this mod is so eeeevil and demonic that it deserves a scary red font. Anyways a monitor belonging to a friend of mine recently died (the CRT cracked) and he gave it to me. This was the best use I could think of for it.
Since this is a really long and
boring howto I know noone's going to bother reading to the end so I will
just show you the final result on the first page, then you can read how
it was done if you want.
I guess it would help if I said what this is. Well, for all you cheap guys who have never played Doom before, this is my rendition of a scene from the final stage of Doom II. Our hero is standing on a platform in front of the mega demon bad dude and is ready to whoop ass with his double barrelled shottie. It is constructed in 3d out of cardboard, and has circuitry such that when I push the monitor power button things light up. And yes that is my beloved Donna in the background of the first picture.
