This is a quick and easy hack - if you have an old inket or laser printer, it will have a stepper motor in it. By connecting an LED to the stepper motor, you can make a ghetto hand cranked flashlight.
To improve on the project, you can add diodes, capacitors and batteries to store the energy - but then it wouldn't be the world's simplest flashlight eh?
